Artwork dealing with dementia issues

I am pleased to announce that my artwork has been selected for the exhibition 'A Letter in Mind' organised by The National Brain Appeal. Chosen artwork deals with dementia issues.

From a press release by The National Brain Appeal:

Each artist was sent a pack containing the all-important white envelope and the response has been amazing. We’ve had hundreds of entries from across the country, from established and emerging names in the worlds of art and design, illustration, graphic design, fashion and craft. Their envelopes have been built in, drawn on, painted, written on, wired, collaged, sewn and even had artworks sealed inside them! It’s so exciting to see the different interpretations and all the things that can be done with a simple white envelope.
We've had some high profile names creating masterpieces for us as well - Grayson Perry, Billy Childish, Elisa Sighicelli, Natasha Kidd, Avis Underwood, Threadneedle Prize exhibitor Gill Rocca, Frank Kiely, Association of Illustrators 2014 winner Chris Haughton and RIBA award-winning architect Amin Taha to name but a few. Not only that, our esteemed Headliners are getting in on the act too: Sophie Thompson, winner of this year's Celebrity Masterchef, has recently submitted her piece!
The envelope artworks will all be priced at £80 and sold anonymously at the exhibition, at the gallery@oxo, Oxo Tower Wharf, in aid of The National Brain Appeal. Only when the exhibition ends will the artist’s name and biography be revealed. This means you may have the chance to own a Grayson Perry for less than £100!
Pop Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 October 2014 in your calendar - we'll see you there!

'Elemental'

dates: 13 February - 28 March 2014
what: Exhibition
address: Aintree House, Aintree University Hospital, Longmoor Lane, Liverpool, L9 7AL

I have been selected to take part in an exhibition organised by PARTIA at Aintree University Hospital entitled ‘Elemental’. The exhibition explores the theme ‘Elemental’ in a variety of ways from an examination of the classical elements (earth, wind, fire and water) to chemical ones, the great outdoors and the weather or even orbital elements.

I am pleased to be exhibiting two paintings; “Water” and “Air” from my series Elements. This consists of four paintings presenting ideas of water, air, fire, and earth/soil. In “Water” I sought to show infinite movements of waves, “Air” explores idea of space that is created by air.

address: CGP Cafe Gallery, Southwark Park, London, SE16 2UA

Invitation

You are invited to the Annual Open #28 exhibition at Cafe Gallery in London's Southwark Park.

I am exhibiting two oil paintings from the current series titled "Horizon" inspired by walking trip in Dorset, around the Weymouth and Portland area. (One of submitted paintings on the left). Paintings dimensions are 24 x 24 cm including frame and are available for sale.

About the "Horizon" series of paintings

Usually the horizon line divides sky and sea distinctively. The day which was an inspiration for the series titled “Horizon” was sunny, cloudless but misty. Mist covered vast areas and it was impossible to define distant shapes like this one of the sun or cliffs. A curtain of mist was shut on the horizon line. The sea and sky division was liquid and mist changed perception of a distance, bringing both sky and the sea closer to a viewer. It was as if the sea edge was curved and smudged together with sky. That walking trip sparked the necessity to create this series where I explore ideas of calmness, intimacy of open spaces and harmony.

This exhibtion challenged Anna to use different mediums. From objects gathered by exhibition curators Ingrid Z, Dayvid Lott, Patrick Wolf and Jo Apps, Anna chose old, rotten buggy, blue spray, and game cobbles in red, blue and yellow. She removed textile and found lots of snails living in the metal frame of the buggy. After removing snails she made a stop frame animation where the snail was moving along the frame which was bent into mascuilne triangle outlined object. After releasing snails she painted frame with the spray and attached three cobbles in colours red, yellow and blue. The object and animation were created in short 24 hours to be ready for the exhibition opening.

This exbihibition was a celebration of playfullness. It was an excercise of creative process within limited time frame.
